Beyonce brings bacchanal to Trinidad ! |

| Beyonces final date of her I Am Beyonce tour, lands in Trinidad and Tobago. This news first brought excitement to the island but now is causing worry. TSTT normally invest millions of dollars in sponsorship over the Trinidad Carnival season, sponsoring both artists and major events such as The International Soca Monarch, Dimanche Gras, Panorama and much more. Promoters, band leaders and artists have taken it upon their selves to send a petition to Peon in request of a meeting where they can put out their views and concerns.
We have nothing against Beyonce. We are just saying that it is insensitive to bring her at this time. It will affect all Carnival stakeholders because you know its not just a case of people forgoing fetes and shows to buy tickets. What about those who depend on Carnival to earn income?
Promoters are scared they will lose money due to people saving money to attend Beyonce’s concert. The tickets vary from $450 general admission increasing to $1000 VIP and then to a further $1600 for VVIP. Promoters have not thought about keeping their fetes affordable, band leaders continue to increase costume prices and instead they would rather postpone the concert.
Right now I believe the promoters are not going to have any effect on the decision and it seems the show will go on. Beyonce brings bacchanal to Trinidad’s Queens Park Oval on 18th February 2010! |
